Recently, Zhang Hongtao, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, met with Alan Wong Chi-kong, Digital Policy Commissioner of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and Li Zhenye, Founder and Director of the B4B Big Data Application Challenge. The two sides exchanged views and discussed cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong in artificial intelligence and other fields.
Mr. Zhang emphasized that the economic integration and cultural affinity between Shanghai and Hong Kong play an important role in the process of national reform and development. Relying on national strategies such as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, taking advantage of Hong Kong's unique position as an international open cooperation hub, and giving full play to Shanghai's advantages in industrial science and technology innovation, Shanghai and Hong Kong will strengthen complementary resources, learn from each other's experiences, and exchange platforms, and constantly open up new space for cooperation. This April, the 6th Meeting of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Cooperation Conference was successfully held in Hong Kong, which ushered in a historic opportunity to deepen the industrial cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong. Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization will take this opportunity to continue to give full play to the spillover effect of high-end platforms such as the World Artificial Intelligence Conference. With the help of carriers such as Hong Kong Science Park, Hong Kong Cyberport, and Shanghai Lingang, we will strengthen cooperation in adhering to intelligence for good, overseas corpus collection, international submarine cable layout, cross-border data flow, open application scenarios, and service enterprises going overseas, carry out joint research on common technologies among industry, universities and research institutes, drive industrial transformation, upgrading and application, and better promote the docking of industries, markets and technologies between Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Mr. Wong introduced the functions of the newly established Digital Policy Office of the Hong Kong SAR Government at the end of this July and the future AI industry plan. The two sides exchanged views and discussed the direction of industrial cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong, and expressed their common expectations to collaboratively accelerate the cultivation of New Productive Forces.
