On August 5th, Fortune magazine announced the latest list of Fortune 500 companies in the world. According to the 2023 financial reports and total revenue of global companies, a total of 133 Chinese companies are included in Fortune 500. Among them, there are 13 enterprises headquartered in Shanghai, one more than last year, that is, Pinduoduo, which is included for the first time.
Among Top 10 companies in the world, Walmart ranked first for the 11th consecutive year, and Amazon hit a new high, ranking second (last year it ranked fourth). Saudi Aramco fell to fourth place, but with $121 billion in profits, it was the most profitable company on the list for the third year in a row. State Grid, Sinopec, and PetroChina ranked third, fifth, and sixth respectively on the list. The bottom four are Apple, UnitedHealth, Berkshire Hathaway, and Sevis Health.
The Shanghai-based companies shortlisted for Fortune 500 are China Baowu (44), SAIC (93), Bank of Communications (154), COSCO Shipping (267), Greenland Holdings (291), Shanghai Pudong Development Bank (292), China Shipbuilding (309), Pacific Insurance (331), Sushang Construction (340), Shanghai Construction Engineering (354), Shanghai Pharmaceuticals (411), Pinduoduo Holdings (442), and Shanghai Delong Iron and Steel Group (452).
