On March 20th, China Telecom Shanghai Company (Shanghai Telecom) landed the first "10G Cloud Broadband Demonstration Community" based on 50G-PON (passive optical network) in Yangpu District.
As the key technology of all-optical 10 Gigabit, 50G-PON has been defined by International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunications Standardization Sector (ITU-T) as the standard of the next-generation PON after 10G-PON. It has ultra-large bandwidth, low latency, and application-level flexible slicing, which is the 10G broadband access technology firmly chosen by mainstream operators around the world. According to the actual situation and business needs of the existing network, Shanghai Telecom and China Telecom Research Institute took the lead in formulating the three-generation coexistence scheme of EPON, 10G-EPON and 50G-PON, which further optimized and improved the international standards and laid a solid foundation for the smooth evolution of the existing network from different generations to 50G-PON.
In the "10G Cloud Broadband Demonstration Community", Shanghai Telecom has completed the construction of 10G coverage, realizing the immediate use of 10G access terminals on demand. In the demonstration community, customers of Shanghai Telecom's 5G Good Home 399 and above packages can apply for free experience of 10G Cloud Broadband. On the basis of the existing package tariffs remaining unchanged, they can enjoy 10G Cloud Broadband with 10000M downlink and 1000M uplink for free. During the 6-month pilot period, residents can directly connect to the leading 10G optical network at home, enjoy the world's leading 10G service experience, and experience the convenient digital life circle based on the 10G network.
"The peak download rate of a single user of the Extreme Smart Home Hard Disk reaches 4.5Gbps, and the peak upload rate reaches 2Gbps, which is more than 10 times that of the original Gigabit!" At present, Shanghai Telecom is continuing to build a 10G Cloud Broadband product system. Through 10G access capabilities, combined with extremely fast smart home hard drives, extreme cloud interaction, 3D optical perception and 3D/XR cloud live broadcast, 10G broadband features the product characteristics of perceptible and strong experience.
