From October 20th to 21st, 2023 China 5G Development Conference was held in Shanghai. Zhang Yunming, Member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Chen Jie, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, attended the event and delivered speeches, presenting awards to the first prize winners of the 6th "Blooming Cup" 5G Application Solicitation Competition.
Thanks to the joint efforts of all parties, China has built the world's largest and technologically leading 5G network. By the end of September, China had built and opened 3.189 million 5G base stations, 737 million 5G mobile phone users, over 20,000 5G industry virtual private networks, and the number of necessary patent declarations for 5G standards accounted for 42% of the world. The "Blooming Cup" 5G Application Solicitation Competition has been held for six consecutive sessions, with a total of 94,000 entries, and the number of participants has increased from 189 in the first session to nearly 16,000 in the sixth session. 5G applications have been widely integrated into 67 of 97 major categories of national economy, and the role of 5G empowerment has been continuously demonstrated.
Representatives from Huawei, ZTE, Nokia Bell, Jinqiao and other enterprises fully discussed the future development of 5G technology industry and integrated application. At the conference site, Shanghai Telecom, Shanghai Mobile, Shanghai Unicom and other carriers showed innovative cases one after another, focusing on the successful exploration and practice of Shanghai operators in empowering thousands of businesses with high-quality development by 5G network technology.
With the theme of "5G Sails for New Quality, Industrial Upgrading for the Future", this conference was hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The opening ceremony, main forum, sub-forum, investment and financing matchmaking meetings and other activities were set up to release the latest achievements of 5G development, build an industrial exchange and cooperation platform, and promote the expansion, quality improvement and high-quality development of 5G.
