Chen Jining, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, attended the event and announced the opening of the 23rd China International Industry Fair. Li Xiaohong, President of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, delivered speeches and jointly presented China International Industry Fair Awards, including Special Awards. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon delivered a video message.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Li pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized in the Report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China that the development of strategic emerging industry integration clusters should be promoted, and a number of new growth engines such as new generation information technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, new energy, new materials, high-end equipment and green environmental protection should be built. This year's Fair shows the whole industrial chain from manufacturing basic materials and key components to advanced manufacturing equipment and overall solutions. CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government firmly grasped the opportunity of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial revolution, consolidated basic research, seized the new track, shaped new advantages, walked at the forefront of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, and became the pioneer of innovation and development in the new era.
At the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with the Ministry of Justice, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank and other units, jointly issued a series of policies on "Building a Good Ecology and Sharing Development Opportunities".
This year's Fair last for 5 days, with 9 professional exhibition areas, with more than 2,800 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions around the world, and an exhibition area of 300,000 square meters. The number of exhibitors and exhibition areas have reached a record high. During the exhibition, nearly 1,000 new products and technologies will be released, and a special buyer plan will be launched to build a "Digital Industry Fair" platform. Activities such as the International Industrial Sustainable Development Forum and Sino-German Green Manufacturing Conference, the International Cooperation Summit Forum of Advanced Manufacturing Clusters, and the 2023 Investment Shanghai Meeting Industry Fair Theme Promotion Conference were also be held.
