On August 28th, the 3rd Dishui Lake China RISC-V Industry Forum and the launching ceremony of the world's first RISC-V Patent Alliance were held in Shanghai Lingang New Area. Tang Wenkan, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, attended the Forum and delivered a speech. Wu Xiaohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Lingang New Area Management Committee, and Calista Redmond, CEO of RISC-V International Foundation, addressed speeches.
Mr. Tang pointed out that integrated circuit is one of the three leading industries in Shanghai. In 2022, the scale of integrated circuit industry in Shanghai exceeded RMB300 billion. It has cultivated 31 listed enterprises in STAR Board, gathered 1,200 industrial enterprises and collected 40% of industrial talents in China. Shanghai has become the region with the most complete integrated circuit industry chain, the highest concentration of enterprises and the strongest comprehensive competitiveness in China, and is accelerating the building of a world-class integrated circuit industry cluster.
Mr. Tang said that Shanghai is building a "2+(3+6)+(4+5)" modern industrial system, which will bring broad market demand for global integrated circuit enterprises, especially the development of RISC-V new instruction set. Shanghai is the first city in China to support the development of RISC-V. Since 2017, it has successively supported the holding of international RISC-V technical seminars, took the lead in establishing China RISC-V Industry Alliance, held the first China RISC-V Summit, and convened Dishui Lake China RISC-V Industry Forum. At present, Shanghai has become one of the most concentrated areas of RISC-V industry and talents in the world, and is further improving the RISC-V industry ecology to attract domestic and foreign enterprises and talents to Shanghai for development.
