On August 15th, 2023, the National Consumer Goods Industry Symposium was held in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. Guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Symposium conveyed the spirit of studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the National Ecological Environmental Protection Conference, conscientiously implemented the requirements of the Symposium of Responsible Comrades of the National Departments in Charge of Industry and Information Technology, and studied and deployed the key work of the consumer goods industry. Wang Jiangping, Member of the Party Team and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the event and delivered a speech. He Yaqiong, Director of the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, presided over the Symposium.
The Symposium pointed out that the national consumer goods industry system resolutely implemented the decision-making arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, efficiently completed the task of ensuring the production and supply of medical materials, solidly promoted the "three products" strategy of the consumer goods industry, continuously improved the supply and service capacity of high-quality consumer goods, significantly enhanced the resilience and competitiveness of the industrial chain supply chain, and made solid steps in the transformation and upgrading of the consumer goods industry, providing strong support and making important contributions to efficiently coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development and realizing steady growth of the industrial economy.
It emphasized that the consumer goods industry covers all aspects of people's "food, clothing, housing, education, medical care, entertainment, travel, beauty and fashion". It is a traditional advantageous industry and an important livelihood industry in China, and is the material basis for meeting people's growing needs for a better life. It is necessary to speed up the formation of green and sustainable production methods of consumer goods. Through the transformation of new technologies, new processes and new equipment, the traditional production mode will be upgraded, the treatment of "three wastes" will be strengthened, and the comprehensive utilization system of wastes will be improved, so as to make positive contributions to further promoting the three major defense wars of blue sky, clear water and pure land.
