Recently, the Global Open-source Technology Conference 2023 (GOTC 2023) jointly sponsored by Pudong Software Park, Open Atomic Open Source Foundation, Linux Foundation Asia Pacific and Open Source China was held in Zhangjiang Science Hall. Ni Guangnan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a video speech, so did Wang Huaimin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Jim Zemlin, Executive Director of Linux Foundation. Zhang Ying, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Hou Jin, Full-time Deputy Director of Shanghai Promotion Science and Technology Innovation Center Construction Office, and Xia Lifeng, Deputy Director of Science and Technology Development Department of China Electronic Information Industry Group, jointly launched Shanghai Open Source Industry Service Platform and witnessed the signing of cooperation agreement.
At GOTC, Shanghai Open Source Industry Service Platform was officially launched. Shanghai Pudong Software Park signed an agreement with Linux Foundation Asia Pacific, which marked the official launch of Linux Foundation Asia Pacific Open Source Community Service Center. Shanghai Pudong Software Park also announced strategic cooperation with Open Source China to build an open source industry ecology in Shanghai.
In order to better communicate and interact with developers, GOTC 2023 also set up a special exhibition hall, where Huawei, ByteDance, Gitee, SDV Automotive Software Open Source Alliance and other enterprises and open source communities comprehensively demonstrated the excellent performance and rich examples of their open source products. In addition, this event presented Zhangjiang Digital Chain - Metaverse Interactive Exhibition Area, and more than 30 open source communities set up boothes in the exhibition hall, creating an open source market for developers.
Open source has become a national strategy in China and is explicitly included in the 14th Five-Year Plan. GOTC 2023 focuses on cutting-edge open source technologies and industrial ecological development, and interprets the theme of this conference, “Open source, into the future” in the form of industry exhibitions, keynote speeches, special forums and open source markets. 17 sub-forums discussed hot technical themes such as metaverse, 3D and games, eBPF, Web3.0 and blockchain, as well as hot topics such as open source community, AIGC, automotive software, AI programming, open source education and training, and cloud nativity, so as to explore the future of open source and drive its development.
