Shanghai Municipal Government and China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited entered a strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai on December 29th. Chen Jining, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, met with Wan Min, Chairman of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, and his party.
Mr. Chen thanked China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited for its contribution to Shanghai's economic and social development. He pointed out that COSCO Shipping is a leading enterprise in the world shipping industry, the enterprise development strategy of which is highly compatible with Shanghai's functional orientation. It is hoped that both parties will take the opportunity of implementing the new round of strategic cooperation agreement to further improve the cooperation mechanism, expand cooperation areas, upgrade cooperation levels, jointly safeguard the safety of industrial chain and supply chain, jointly develop high-end shipping industry and jointly promote green and low-carbon development. COSCO Shipping is welcome to put more new businesses, models and technologies in Shanghai, optimize the layout of global logistics hubs in Shanghai, build efficient and smooth logistics infrastructure and supply chain system, expand the radiation range of sea-rail combined transport, and accelerate the process of carbon reduction in the shipping operation. Shanghai will make every effort to create a market-oriented, legal and international business environment, create better conditions for enterprises to develop in Shanghai and better serve the overall development of the country.

He mentioned that the Corporation aims at the goal of a world-class shipping enterprise, accelerates the transformation of global digital supply chain, vigorously develops green and low-carbon intelligent shipping, and continuously promotes the upgrading of high-end shipping energy level. We will give full play to our own advantages, deepen cooperation with Shanghai in various fields, better help the construction of Shanghai's "five centers", and make greater contributions to serving the national strategy.
Gong Zheng and Wan Min attended the signing ceremony. Liu Duo, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, and Sun Yunfei, Deputy General Manager and Chief Accountant of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
Municipal leader Zhuge Yujie participated in the event.
According to the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in port and shipping business, global digital supply chain construction, green and low-carbon shipping, smart shipping, shipping technology innovation, state assets and SOE reform, high-end shipping services, and shipping industry integration, in order to build an internationally competitive integrated service ecosystem of logistics supply chain, jointly create an upgraded version of Shanghai International Shipping Center, and better serve the national strategy of integrated development of Yangtze River Delta.
