On August 10th, at the main forum of World 5G Convention 2022, Wu Hequan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of Future Mobile Communication Forum, announced Top 10 5G Application Cases this year. Three projects submitted by Shanghai, namely, "5G Fully Connected Factory Application of Jiangnan Shipbuilding Supported by Gigabit Virtual Private Network", "Ultra Portable Mixed Reality Craniocerebral Surgery Navigation System under 5G Architecture of Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University" and "5G Global Intelligent Financial Cloud Private Network at Bank of Communications", were successfully selected.
Professor Wu explained, "In this year's collection of Top 10 5G Application Cases, the Organizing Committee received 432 outstanding projects selected by 30 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions and key enterprises. According to the standards of technological innovation, international and domestic leadership, economic benefits and social benefits of the project, Top 10 5G Application Cases are finalized, which embody the deep cultivation of 5G industry, practice with scientific and technological achievements, and highlight the achievements of technological innovation empowering social progress."
At present, Shanghai has entered the leading ranks in 5G and Gigabit optical networks. The selection of the three projects highlights that Shanghai has actively implemented the national requirements of "building digital information infrastructure and promoting large 5G applications", and further driven the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries with 5G empowerment, which has achieved certain results. Shanghai will continue to accelerate the promotion of 5G applications in vertical industries, actively lay out new tracks for future development, and build an influential digital capital of the world.
