Domestic large cruise ships enter a new stage of batch construction in an accelerated manner

 On August 8th, China Shipbuilding Corporation Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. held the commencement ceremony of the second domestic large cruise ship. Tian Yulong, Member of the Party Group and Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Yang Jincheng, General Manager of China Shipbuilding Corporation, Xu Chunrong, Director of the Second Division of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization , attended the ceremony.

 

 

Mr. Tian pointed out that China Shipbuilding Corporation joined hands with internationally renowned enterprises such as Carnival Group and Fincantieri S.p.A. to explore a new development model of openness, cooperation and win-win, and continuously achieve new breakthroughs and achievements in the design, construction and management of large cruise ships. In particular, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, as a final assembly shipbuilder, fully demonstrates the strength and level of China's shipbuilding industry. It is hoped that China Shipbuilding Corporation will play a leading and main role, strengthen cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises, strictly control construction quality and safety, further enhance the level of final assembly construction and supporting industrial chain of large cruise projects, and build a world-class cruise industry cluster.

 

China's first large cruise ship started construction in Shanghai on October 18th, 2019. At present, the overall progress has exceeded 85%, and it is planned to deliver the ship in 2023. The ship has a gross tonnage of 135,500 tons, a total length of 323.6 meters, a width of 37.2 meters, a maximum draft of 8.55 meters, a maximum speed of 22.6 nautical miles per hour and 2,125 passenger cabins. The second domestic large cruise ship has a gross ton of about 142,000 tons, a total length of 341.0 meters, a width of 37.2 meters, a maximum draft of 8.4 meters, a maximum speed of 22.7 nautical miles per hour and 2,144 passenger cabins. It is planned to be delivered in 2025. The commencement of the second domestic large cruise ship started the pace of accelerating the batch construction of large cruise ships.
