On July 29th, on the occasion of the 140th Anniversary of China's Electricity Supply, the "Green Power for a Better Life" Summit Forum and the Commemoration of the 140th Anniversary of China's Electricity Supply were held by the twin cities of Beijing and Shanghai. Zhang Wei, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, attended the event and delivered a speech. Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, was present and addressed a speech.

Mr. Zhang stated that Shanghai’s power industry should conscientiously implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's strategy of "carbon neutralization and carbon peaking" and actively practice the important concept of "people's city". Based on the present and focusing on the future, it is critical to create a safe, clean, efficient and sustainable new power system suitable for Shanghai as a megacity, improve a safe, reliable, strong and stable energy supply network, accelerate the formation of a green, clean, low-carbon and efficient energy consumption structure, strive to create an energy innovation platform with leading technologies and high-end demonstration, actively promote a fair, open and competitive energy market structure, and make every effort to build an open, win-win, coordinated and complementary energy cooperation system.

Focusing on "new demand, tracks and highland", Mr. Wu comprehensively introduced the development opportunities of green and low-carbon energy transformation in Shanghai. He pointed out that it is necessary to actively grasp the new needs of energy development, passionately adapt to the requirements of economic and social electrification, digitalization, greening and low-carbon transformation and development, and fully guarantee the safe operation of the power grid and reliable power supply. It is important to speed up the deployment of a new track for green energy and low-carbon development, comprehensively promote the localization of key systems such as heavy gas turbines and large offshore wind turbines, and achieve the scale of Shanghai's green and low-carbon industry exceeding RMB500 billion in 2025. Efforts should be made to build a new highland for green and low-carbon energy transformation and development, focusing on hydrogen energy, wind energy, solar energy and other fields, and developing new technologies, industries and applications.
