On March 31st, the International Forum on Innovation and Emerging Industries Development (IEID) sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Shanghai Municipal People's Government and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was successfully held online. Li Xiaohong, President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Wei, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology delivered speeches, and Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering presided over the opening ceremony. With the theme of "Technological Innovation Leads the Emerging Industries Development", at the opening ceremony, Mr. Li gave a keynote speech on "China's Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutralization Strategy and Roadmap". Mr. Xin delivered a special report on “National Industrial High-quality Innovation and Development Strategy”. Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, presented a special report on “Shanghai Industrial Innovation”, and Huang Hong, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs attended the opening ceremony.
Mr. John L. Anderson, President of American Academy of Engineering, Mr. Johann-Dietrich (Jan) Wörner, President of German Academy of Science and Engineering, Mr. Bernard L. Feringa, Nobel Prize Laureate, Mr. Gao Wen, Academician, Director of Pengcheng Laboratory, and other world-class scientists were invited to give keynote speeches.
At the Think Tank forum on the afternoon of March 31st, several academicians, including Zhao Xiangeng, Chen Jianfeng, Lu Jun, Peng Suping, Sun Fengchun, Zhao Chunjiang, Dong Jiahong and Wu Fengchang, gave special academic reports on the development hotspots of related emerging industries, ranging from low-carbon energy, standardization, intelligent manufacturing, integrated circuits, biomedicine, new materials, modern transportation to innovative design, and talked about innovation blueprints of all walks of life.
Combined with the current hot innovation topics, this year’s IEID also set up 8 parallel sessions. Among them, 5 sessions on Artificial Intelligence Technology and Industry, Integrated Circuits, New Materials Technology and Industry, Innovative Design and Digital Creative Technology and Industry, and Modern Transportation, were held in advance. Three parallel sessions on Technology and Industry Related to Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutralization, Intelligent Manufacturing Technology and Industry, and Biomedical Technology and Industry, were held simultaneously during the event.
Responsible comrades from Technical Progress Department, Office, Foreign Economic Development Coordination Department, Industrial Investment Department, Frequency Management Office and Information Infrastructure Management Office of the Commission attended the opening ceremony.
