On the morning of September 28th, the launching ceremony of the first "Guanghua Cup" Gigabit Optical Network Application Innovation Competition was held atChina National Convention Center in Beijing. Wu Qing, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, delivered a speech via video. Han Xia, Chief Engineer of MIIT, and Yu XIaohui, President of CAICT, were present and made speeches. Wu Hequan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, made a special report. Xie Cun, Director of Information and Communication Development Department of MIIT, Zhang Jianming, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Wang Tianguang, Deputy Director of Shanghai Communications Administration, were also present.
Mr. Wu pointed out in his speech that to promote the development of gigabit optical network, the foundation is "construction" and the key is "usage".Under the guidance and support of MIIT, the "Guanghua Cup" gigabit optical network application innovation competition is jointly hosted by CAICT, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and Shanghai Communications Administration, which reflects the high attention paid by the national competent departments to the development of the industry and the affirmation of the development foundation of Shanghai.Shanghai will take the preparation of this competition as an opportunity to further promote the application deployment and industrial development of gigabit optical network.
Mr. Zhang pointed out in his speech that Shanghai has entered the era of application driven development. Through competitions, experience activities and other forms, enterprises will be encouraged to explore and develop more and better "double Gigabit" applications, form a virtuous circle and truly use the "double Gigabit" network.
