Shanghai signed a contract with CNOOC today: Li Qiang looks forward to strengthening all-round cooperation in the fields of energy supply, clean energy, scientific and technological innovation, finance and trade

On August 25th, Shanghai Municipal People's Government and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai. Li Qiang, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, met with Wang Dongjin, Chairman of CNOOC, and his team.

 

Li Qiang thanked CNOOC for its long-term active participation and support for Shanghai's economic and social development. He mentioned that at present, we are thoroughly implementing the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the celebration meeting of the 30th anniversary of Pudong's development and opening up, deepening the construction of the "five centers", comprehensively strengthening the "four major functions", and fully promoting the implementation of various national strategies. Energy security and sustainable development are highly essential to urban operation and future development. CNOOC has a leading edge in offshore oil and gas production and operation and energy scientific and technological innovation, and the prospects for cooperation between the two parties are profound. He hoped to further deepen strategic interfacing and strengthen all-round cooperation in the fields of energy supply, clean energy, scientific and technological innovation, finance and trade. CNOOC is welcome to increase investment in Shanghai and expand international cooperation based on the functional advantages of Shanghai’s platform. We will continue to create a good ecosystem, provide quality services and push bilateral cooperation to a new level.

 

Gong Zheng and Wang Dongjin attended the signing ceremony. Wu Qing, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor, and Zhou Liwei, Deputy General Manager of CNOOC signed the contract on behalf of both parties. Municipal leader Zhuge Yujie also attended the event.

 

According to the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in oil and gas field development, clean energy supply, high-end equipment manufacturing and other fields, promote diversified energy supply, facilitate the development of strategic emerging industries, build an international energy trading platform, strengthen financial cooperation, and help Shanghai's high-quality economic development and the smooth realization of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
