With the deepening of the new round of global scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, the "Double Gigabit" network technology represented by 5G and fixed-line Gigabit has become an important pillar for the development strategy of digital economy and a key focus of global industrial and economic competition around the world. This March, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Action Plan for Collaborative Development of Double Gigabit Networks (2021-2023), which put forward higher requirements for the construction of Double Gigabit networks, industrial application promotion, core technology R&D, industrial competitiveness, and the modernization level of industrial chain and supply chain.
As the pioneer of 5G commercialization and the first "Double Gigabit Broadband City" built in China, Shanghai continues to accelerate its "Double Gigabit" plan. In order to speed up the quality improvement and growth of the "Double Gigabit" network, complement application advantages, integrate innovative services and enhance the collaborative innovation and agglomeration development capability of the 5G industry chain, on June 16th, Shanghai launched a series of "Double Gigabit" application promotion activities in 2021.
This series of activities is guided by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Shanghai Communications Administration and China ICT Institute, led by Shanghai Emerging Research Institute and CLP Digital Intelligence, and jointly implemented by carriers, integrators and other relevant organizations.
