On the afternoon of March 29th, an exhibitor alliance of 2021 China International Import Expo (CIIE), the joint unveiling ceremony of the Integrated Circuit, Smart Mobility and New Energy Committee, was held at NECC (Shanghai). Fu Xinhua, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, attended the ceremony and made a speech. He also unveiled two newly established committees.
Mr. Fu pointed out in his speech that Shanghai is a key city of integrated circuit industry and automobile industry in China. In 2020, the scale of integrated circuit industry in Shanghai exceeded RMB200 billion, with a year-on-year growth of 21%. At present, we are accelerating the provision of high-quality innovation resources, creating high-quality industrial carriers, releasing high-energy market demand, and striving to build a world-class IC industrial cluster. In 2020, the automobile industry of Shanghai achieved an output value of RMB673.5 billion, of which 240,000 new energy vehicles were produced, a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times. Shanghai is one of the major regions in the development of automobile industry in China. Adhering to the goal of building a world-class automobile industry center, Shanghai is speeding up the layout of new energy automobile industry chain, promoting the agglomeration and development of new energy automobile advantageous resources, improving the promotion environment of new energy automobile, and constantly promoting the upgrading and development of the automobile industry.
Mr. Fu hoped that the two committees will make greater contributions in promoting the participation of key industry enterprises in the exhibition, building enterprise exchange and service platforms, and promoting industry innovation and development. He said that the Commission, as the competent department of industrial services, will fully support the work of the two special committees, serve the development of enterprises in the industry in Shanghai, and support the successful holding of the Import Expo.
The first Integrated Circuits Committee is comprised of 10 units, including 1 president unit (Qualcomm), 1 vice president unit (ASML), 1 consultant unit (Samsung) and 7 member units (KLA-Tencors, Lam Research, AGC, DuPont, Amkor Technology, Texas Instruments and ASM Technology). Shanghai Integrated Circuits Industry Association was also invited as the co-organizing unit of the committee.
The first Smart Mobility and New Energy Committee consists of 14 member units, including 1 chairman unit (Michelin), 4 vice chairman units (Volkswagen, Bosch, Hyundai Mobis and Qualcomm) and 9 member units (Toyota, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Volvo, ICONA, TuSimple, Hong Kong Fuel Cell and HRC), and the Investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization was also invited as the support unit of the committee.
