On the afternoon of March 22nd, Wu Qing, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, met with Zhang Huawei and Chen Lin, Chairmen of WEGO International Medical Investment Holding Co., Ltd. Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, was present. Liu Ping, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Guan Xiaojun, Member of CPC Minhang District Committee, and Deputy District Governor of Minhang, also attended the meeting.
Mr. Wu welcomed Zhang Huawei and his team. He pointed out that taking biomedicine as one of three leading industries and building a world-class industrial cluster is a major mission entrusted to Shanghai by the central government. Mr. Wu also said that Shanghai has intensive talents, clinical, financial and other related resources, which can provide a good development environment for the biomedical industry including medical devices, and will also provide strong support for the R & D and industrialization of high-tech products of WEGO. He hoped that WEGO would take this opportunity to further optimize its strategic business layout and boost a higher quality development.
Weigao (Shanghai) International Research Institute was founded at Minhang District in July 2020, covering an area of 61 Mu, with an estimated construction area of 120,000 square meters. In the future, with the research institute as the core, through the establishment of four R&D centers of polymer materials, tissue engineering and repair, intelligent medical equipment and life science products, the layout of "one international research institute, one Shanghai headquarters, one medical business center and four international operation centers" will be formed.
