On January 4th, the first working day of 2021,Shanghai held the centralized commencement of major projects. A total of 64 major projects were started in the city, with a total investment of RMB273.4 billion, involving high-end industries, scientific and technological innovation, infrastructure and major livelihood. This is a major move for Shanghai to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, fully implement the new development concept and serve the new development pattern and will provide strong impetus for the "14th Five-Year Plan" of Shanghai.
Li Qiang, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, attended and announced the centralized commencement of major projects in the city. Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, unveiled two online new economic and ecological parks, namely "Zhangjiang Online" and "Changyang Xiudai".
Make every effort to accelerate the implementation, commencement and construction of major projects
Entering a new journey, Shanghai, based on the national strategy and its own advantages, aims at the needs of major industries, people's livelihood and the commanding heights of future development, focuses on key regions and areas, and continues to make efforts. All departments in all regions strengthen overall coordination and accurate services, strengthen pre-approval, pressure procedures and reduction, and spare no effort to accelerate the implementation, commencement and construction of major projects. At the scene of the event, some leaders of major projects reported to the main venue that the preparatory work was ready through video conferencing.

Among these projects, 52 are major industries and innovation projects, covering integrated circuits, biomedicine, artificial intelligence, online new economy, aerospace, new materials, high-end equipment, finance and trade; 12 are infrastructure, rental housing and other major projects, involving Yanggao Road reconstruction project, coastal sewage treatment plant expansion project and other important livelihood projects. The construction of these projects will help to give full play to the leading effect and strategic supporting role of major projects during the "14th Five -Year Plan" period, and further lay a solid foundation for accelerating the high-quality economic development and urban construction.
Strive to become the first choice, talent pool, business innovation furnace, integrated application field and system leading area of online new economy industry
In order to speed up the development of online new economy, the two online new economy ecological parks, Zhangjiang Online and Changyang Xiudai, have been established in a number of leading enterprises respectively. In the next three years, it is expected to form a new industry carrier with an area of over 1.5 million square meters, gather 150,000 employees, and strive to become the first choice of industry, talent pool, business innovation furnace, integrated application center of online new economy field, and pilot zone of system.
Chen Yin, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, presided over the centralized construction activities, Wu Qing, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, introduced the overall situation of the project. Relevant leaders were present, including Weng Zuliang, ZhugeYujie, and Tang Zhiping. Pudong New Area and Midea Group spoke on behalf of the construction area and enterprises respectively. Relevant districts and key industrial parks will organize the project commencement activities in the region at the same time.
