On the afternoon of December 2nd, the foundation laying ceremony of Shanghai FANUC Intelligent Factory Phase III was held at Gucun Town, Baoshan District. Relevant guests were present, including Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Gao Yiyi, Acting Governor of Baoshan District, Dai Liu, Director of Finance and Economics Committee of Municipal People's Congress, Yoshiharu Inaba, President of FANUC Japan, and Zheng Jianhua, Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group.
Mr. Wu congratulated the project and pointed out that it is important for Shanghai to focus on promoting the high-quality development of manufacturing industry. First, it is necessary to seize the key opportunities for development and make the robot industry bigger and stronger. Second, it is advisable to promote the empowerment of new technologies, vigorously develop intelligent manufacturing, and build over 100intelligent factories within three years. And third, it is necessary to deepen strategic cooperation, promote mutual benefit and win-win results in key technology R&D and market-oriented application, strengthen project support services, and fully promote the early completion of the project.
Shanghai FANUC Robots Co., Ltd. was jointly established by Japan FANUC Group and Shanghai Electric Group in 1997. The first and second phases of the factory were built in 2010 and 2014 respectively. The new phase III plant, with a total investment of about RMB1.5 billion and covering an area of 431 Mu, will integrate intelligent manufacturing, research and development, display, sales and system integration center, and strive to become the world's most advanced high flexible robot intelligent factory.
