On the morning of August 30th, the closing and award ceremony of the National Finals of 2020 Huawei Cup China University IoT Design Competition was successfully held by Dujinmin Park at Jinqiao, Pudong New Area. Zhang Jianming, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, was present and made a speech.
Mr. Zhang pointed out that the new digital infrastructure is an important cornerstone for the development of the digital economy. This May, Shanghai focused on digital industrialization, industrial digitization, cross-border integration and high-end branding, and took the lead in introducing "35 new infrastructure projects". Focusing on "new networks, facilities, platforms and terminals", Shanghai built a world-class network of intelligent terminal facilities for the city as a new-generation global information infrastructure benchmark. The construction of 5G network and a new metro IoT private network with the trinity of "Internet of Things, digital connection and intelligent connection" is the focus and hot spot of new infrastructure construction, and also the key digital infrastructure supporting the transformation of economic and social digitization, networking and intelligence, and improving the intelligent level of urban management and social governance. The competition has stimulated the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial vitality of students in 5G and Internet of Things related majors, and shown unlimited potentials. It is believed that in the future, more and more innovation opportunities will emerge based on the excellent experience of this competition.
Founded in 2014, China University IoT Design Competition is the only discipline competition in the field of Internet of Things held by the Education Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education and has been successfully held for six times.
2020 Huawei Cup China University IoT Design Competition was launched in December 2019. Nearly 1,500 teams composed of more than 6,000 students and 1,300 instructors from more than 500 universities in China signed up for the competition. The entries involve 5G, Nb IOT, AI, cloud and other directions, and cover the integration and cooperation of more than ten enterprises such as Huawei, China Mobile and Baidu, which is the largest discipline competition in the field of Internet of Things in China. From July to August 2020, the preliminary and final competitions were held simultaneously in five regions of Northeast, North, Northwest, Central and Southwest and East China. After fierce competition, a total of 120 teams entered the national finals and competed for the "Huawei Cup".
