On July 15th, the opening ceremony of the first 4K UHD channel in Shanghai, the Laughter Theater Channel, was held. The opening of 4K UHD Laughter Theater Channel is the phased achievement of the implementation of the national ultra-high definition (UHD) video industry development strategy, and is also an important measure to implement "Shanghai Ultra-high Definition Video Industry Development Action Plan (2019-2022)".The opening of the channel helps to continuously enhance the core competitiveness of SMG and the Oriental Pearl TV in the UHD sector, further enrich the content of UHD video, and realize the common development of all the links of the UHD industry chain.According to the "Action Plan", by 2020, Shanghai will open a comprehensive public welfare channel of 4K UHD video, which will be broadcast on a rolling basis throughout the day. The premiere programs of the Laughter Theater include "Cinema Selection", "Variety show", "Super Clear Event" and "Discovery". The broadcast contents all conform to the relevant technical standards of the State Administration of radio, film and television on 4K UHD broadcasting. The image definition of 4K UHD channel is more delicate, with richer color brightness performance equivalentto filmsand 4K sound effectequivalentto cinema. Its 3D sound effect can even surpass cinema, so that the audience can experience the audio-visual experience of cinema at home.
