The information and communication enterprises in Shanghai strive to do a good job in network support and successfully complete the "online classroom" support task

      During the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the unified deployment of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government, four information and communication enterprises in Shanghai took the initiative to assume social responsibility and provide network support for online teaching of primary and secondary school students in the city. By June 2nd, the "online classroom" has been running smoothly for more than three months. With the comprehensive resumption of primary and secondary schools in Shanghai, the online teaching network guarantee task has been completed successfully.

      The online teaching activity covers 1.43 million primary and secondary school teachers and students in Shanghai. Under the overall coordination of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and the Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Telecom, Shanghai Mobile, Shanghai Unicom and Oriental Cable Network Corporation (OCN) refined the network support tasks and did a good job in equipment expansion, maintenance support and customer service. During the guarantee period, the Commission urgently coordinated the anti epidemic materials for the front-line operation and maintenance personnel of each company, so as to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, installation and commissioning of the network front-line. After two trial drills, the "online classroom" was officially launched on March 2nd.

 

     

      In order to ensure the smooth progress of online teaching, Shanghai Telecom, Shanghai Mobile, Shanghai Unicom and OCN, together with key personnel of relevant departments of the market, government, enterprises, and network, completed the technical optimization of IP man in a short time, and carried out an emergency expansion for basic network resources including CDN, export bandwidth of education network, and interworking bandwidth of "micro school" of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and upgraded the special line service guarantee level of all kinds of educational units in the city to the highest level. At the same time, the home page of IPTV and video broadcasting platform has been set with the exclusive entrance of "online classroom", which optimized the settings and facilitated the user to enter the live broadcast interface. During the three-month broadcast, the customer service centers of four enterprises received more than 6000 calls related to "online class", and handled more than 3,000 installation and maintenance orders. Four enterprises set up a special support team to optimize the operation guide and solved all kinds of network problems in the process of broadcasting in time.

      Since the "online classroom" was officially launched, each platform portal responds quickly, with excellent performance load, efficient system back-end and remarkable indicators of network monitoring. No network security incidents have occurred. During the period, the number of daily online audience of "online classroom" of Oriental Cable TV, telecom IPTV, mobile IPTV and Unicom IPTV exceeded 1.02 million, the number of daily audience of courses through "Broadcast TV", "Migu Video" and "Wo Video" network platforms exceeded 30,000, and the peak number of audience of courses through 5G terminal reached 50,000.

      With the return of primary and secondary school students in Shanghai, the "online classroom" guarantee task has been completed successfully. The sudden outbreak is both a challenge and an opportunity for the innovative development of teaching. The Commission will continue to coordinate four information and communication enterprises, provide all-round network support for the education sector, actively promote the new 5G+ intelligent education mode, and help create a new era of 5G Education.
