On October 18th, China's first domestic large-scale cruise officially started sheet-cutting at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and entered the stage of substantial construction. This marks the official entry of the Chinese shipbuilding industry into a new era of large-scale cruise construction. Lu Ming, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
Mr. Lu presented that large-scale cruise construction is vital to a major country, with more complicated technologies and higher requirements for design and construction. As the birthplace of China's shipbuilding industry, Shanghai has a strong shipbuilding culture and a sound industrial base and has the advantage of developing the cruise industry. In recent years, Shanghai CPC Municipal Committee and Shanghai Municipal Government have attached great importance to the cruise economy with large-scale cruise manufacturing as the core and strive to build a new highland for the development of Shanghai's cruise economy. Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization will work with relevant departments and rely on key districts of Baoshan and Pudong to promote the design and construction of large-scale domestic cruises with the promotion of major projects, leading enterprises, supporting enterprises and urban links. The development of the cruise industry has enhanced the industrial base capacity and industrial chain and promoted the large-scale cruise industry to become a “business card” that will launch the “Made in Shanghai” brand in the new era and drive the high-quality development of Shanghai’s manufacturing industry.
