The world's first 5G Focused Ultrasound Surgery (FUS) was successfully completed in Shanghai

      On the afternoon of October 14th, the world's first 5G Focused Ultrasound Surgery(FUS) was successfully held at Shanghai International Medical Center.

 

      In the control room of Shanghai International Medical Center, FUS experts remotely controlled the FUS equipment at Xuhui Branch of Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University in a 5G environment to carry out a historically significant FUS human surgery for a patient. The whole operation was performed via 5G remote operation, and 5 uterine fibroids with a maximum of 4.8 cm were ablated for the patient. The empowerment of 5G allows doctors and patients to ignoredistance and doctors can eliminate pain from patients through 5G remote FUS, no matter where the patient is. The combination of the medical industry and 5G is by no means a simple concept superposition. In fact, it is the process of digital transformation of traditional industries. 5G and FUS may reveal the roadmap and direction of future remote surgery.
