The Opening and Awarding Ceremony of the 21st China International Industry Fair (CIIF), with the theme of "Intelligence and inter connection enable new development of industries", was held on the morning of September 17th in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Li Qiang, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee, announced the opening of the fair. Xu Kuangdi, Vice Chairman of the 10th CPPCC National Committee and former President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, awarded "China International Industrial Exposition Award" to 10 winners. Li Xiaohong, President of China Academy of Engineering, and Yingyong, Mayor of Shanghai, made speeches.
Before the opening ceremony, Li Qiang, Xu Kuangdi, Li Xiaohong and Ying Yong, together with guests from home and abroad, visited the award-winning products section and some exhibition halls, carefully inspected the latest scientific and technological innovations and industrial products, and exchanged with the leaders of enterprises participating in the fair.
At the opening ceremony, Li Xiaohong pointed out that China International Industry Fair(CIIF) witnessed the miracle of innovation in Chinese industry, especially in manufacturing industry. The Chinese Academy of Engineering will work hand in hand with Shanghai and relevant commissions to further promote the high-quality development of advanced manufacturing industry, constantly enhance the influence, appeal and innovation of CIIF, and jointly build the fair into world-class business cards for exhibitions and conferences, jointly promoting the prosperity and development of China and the world's Industrial economy.
Ying Yong pointed out that Shanghai attaches great importance to the development of the manufacturing industry and always focuses its economic development on the real economy. Focusing on the construction of "five centers", Shanghai vigorously implements the strategy of innovation-driven development and speeds up the construction of modern industrial system; It is important to deploy innovation chains around the industrial chain, focus on key areas such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, biomedicine, aerospace and intelligent manufacturing. What's more, it is also necessary to strengthen breakthroughs in core technologies, and constantly enhance the ability to innovate; Focusing on consolidating and upgrading the energy level of the real economy, it is wise to implement more open industrial policies, and create an international first-class business environment. Zhang Feng, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology(MIIT), and Ren Hongbin, Assistant Minister of Commerce, made speeches at the opening ceremony.
Relevant comrades were present, including Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of China Academy of Engineering, and comrades from National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Machinery Industry Federation, as well as provinces like Zhejiang, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Guangxi, Yunnan, Qinghai, and Xinjiang. Wu Qing, leader of the city, presided over the ceremony and Zhuge Yujie was present.
The five-day fair has nine major exhibitions covering an area of 280,000 square meters, which focuses on the new effects of industrial development driven by intelligence and interconnection and the latest industrial technologies, products and services. More than 260 enterprises from 27 countries and regions participated in the exhibition. In the meantime, special events will be held, including the International Conference on Innovation and Emerging Industries Development in 2019, the Eighth China Robot Summit and the Fifth CEO Round Table Summit. It is expected that there will be more than 170,000 professional visitors from home and abroad.
