On September 10th, the world's first integrated 5G application display platform, "5G Global Innovation Port", officially appeared on the North Bund Riverside of Shanghai. Wu Qing, Vice Chairman of Shanghai, attended the opening ceremony and officially launched the "5G Global Innovation Port". Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary-General of Municipal Government, and Wu Xinbao, Secretary of Hongkou District Committee, jointly unveiled the "Shanghai 5G pilot demonstration zone for comprehensive application" in Hongkou district. The ceremony was presided over by Hu Guangjie, District Governor of Hongkou, Zhang Jinaming, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, was present and made speech. Relevant leaders from different units also attended the ceremony, including Science and Technology Commission Shanghai Municipality, Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Office, Hongkou District Government, Shanghai Mobile and Huawei.
Located in the core area of the North Bund of Shanghai, the "5G Global Innovation Port" focuses on the development frontier of global information technology. It integrates many functions like 5G technology exhibition, joint venture platform, scene application and scientific popularization. There are four layers in the port: the first floor is Shanghai 5G Comprehensive Application Exhibition hall, which is divided into nine major exhibition areas, focusing on 5G network, technology, application and industrial innovation ecology; the second floor is 5G Joint Venture Center Platform, Huawei, ZiFiSense, eolane, XFORWARDAI and other 5G industry chain enterprises, as well as the Yangtze River Delta 5G Innovation and Development Alliance gather here, focusing on 5G+Internet of Things and 5G+VR/AR/MR. The third level is 5G+VSAT joint venture center, creating 5G+LEO satellite communication network research and development plateau, making up for the gap in LEO satellite communication of China; The Fourth floor is 5G innovative application in urban management practice and urban planning exhibition area, in which the North Bund Street Urban Operation Integrated Management Center uses 5G + Internet of Things technology to build the digital base of Hongkou district, to achieve data integration, mining, analysis and sharing; and the urban planning exhibition area uses digital media to display the development of regional economy and society and the new style of meticulous management. "5G Global Innovation Port" will also provide a variety of 5G innovative enterprises with comprehensive services, including project road show, industrial integration, capital docking, information dissemination and cooperation and exchange.
It is reported that since the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially issued the 5G license in June this year, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom announced the launch of 5G network in Shanghai successively, and Shanghai has become one of the leading cities in the development of 5G in China. By the end of August, more than 8,800 5G outdoor macro base stations and nearly 6,000 indoor micro-stations have been built in the city, covering 598 buildings. Shanghai is stepping up its 5G application innovation and industrial development. At present, more than 160 5G applications are being promoted in all walks of life in the city. This year, 5G applications are mainly concentrated in manufacturing, medical and urban management. White papers in related fields will be published in Shanghai. For the next step, Shanghai will focus on building 5G network construction pioneer area, innovative application demonstration area, industrial chain enterprise agglomeration area, and launch the brand of "double Gigabit broadband city". By 2021, the city will achieve the goal of "RMB300 billion" in the 5G industry, the scale of 5G manufacturing, software and information services, and application industries will all reach RMB100 billion.
