On September 3rd, guided by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)and Shanghai Municipal People's Government and sponsored by China Semiconductor Industry Association and China Institute for the Development of Electronic and Information Industry(CCID), the 2nd Global IC Entrepreneurship Conference(IC China 2019)opened in Shanghai. Relevant leaders and entrepreneurs were present and made speeches, including Xu Kunlin, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary-General of Municipal Government, Qiao Yueshan, Director of Electronic Information Department of MIIT(Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), Zhou Zixue, Chairman of China Semiconductor Industry Association and Chairman of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, and SangerMehrotra, Chairman-in-Office of the American Semiconductor Industry Association and CEO of Meguiar Technologies. Mr. Xu pointed out in his speech that in recent years, Shanghai has taken accelerating the development of integrated circuit industry as an important support point for the construction of science and technology innovation center. The city has become a relatively perfect industrial chain, high degree of industrial agglomeration and advanced technology area in China and even in the world. sIn 2018, investment in integrated circuit industry nearly doubled, with sales revenue of 145 billion yuan, an increase of 22.9% year-on-year, which has strongly supported the future high-quality development of the industry and has become an important business card for the brand "Made in Shanghai".
Mr. Xu introduced that Shanghai launched the construction of integrated circuit design industrial park last year and smart sensor industrial park this year. The city is preparing to build an integrated circuit equipment and materials industrial park, focusing on gathering and attracting world-class integrated circuit enterprises and striving to build a world-class advanced integrated circuit professional park. At the same time, with the strong support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Shanghai is actively promoting the construction of the National Integrated Circuit Innovation Center and the National Intelligent Sensor Innovation Center, speeding up the upgrading of original innovation capability, solving the source of advanced technology in the industry, and striving to contribute "Shanghai Wisdom" to the innovation and development of China and the global integrated circuit industry.
Mr. Qiao pointed out in his speech that in recent years, the integrated circuit industry in China has achieved considerable development, with an CAGR of more than 20%. Many innovative achievements have been made in the whole industry chain of design, manufacturing, sealing, equipment and materials. The independent innovation capability of enterprises has been continuously improved, the super molar field has been accelerated, and interdisciplinary, cross-domain and cross-regional collaborative innovation has been achieved. In the future, driven by emerging applications like 5G, Intelligent Network Auto, Artificial Intelligence and Ultra High Definition Video, the market demand of global integrated circuit industry will continue to grow. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with other countries in the world and welcomes enterprises from all over the world to invest and operate.
In addition to the main forum and exhibition on the 3rd day, the conference will hold six sub-forums on September 4th: 5G chip forum, compound semiconductor industry trend forum, semiconductor industry chain innovation forum, RISC-V industrialization and developer forum, Semiconductor Intellectual Property Development forum, and forum on Yangtze River Delta integrated circuit industry public service platform.
