On August 12th, the Second Preparatory Meeting for 2019 Innovation and Emerging Industries Development(IEID) was held. Shanghai and Beijing teams communicated on the progress of the preparatory work through videoconferencing. Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of China Academy of Engineering, Xu Jin, Director of Bureau I, and Zhang Ying, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, were present and made speeches.
Mr. Zhong pointed out that IEID is a branded event of China International Industry Fair(CIIF). With the joint promotion of relevant ministries and the municipal government, it has played an important role in the construction of an Innovation Centre for Science and Technology as well as industrial technology exchange and cooperation. This year, facing the pressure of the current external environment, it is important to work together to take the responsibility and strive to present a more splendid and distinctive international conference. At the meeting, Ms. Zhang introduced the preparatory work of Shanghai team in the early stage and asked for further importation of resources and good docking with the World Artificial Intelligence Congress, especially in the invitation of guests, which can be exchanged and shared. At the same time, she also asked to do a good job in publicizing the conference and organizing the participants, make full use of the intellectual resources of the conference, provide learning opportunities for enterprises in Shanghai, build a platform for communication, better understand the new trends of international industries, and insight into the new development of emerging industries.
At the meeting, the undertaking colleges and units of the eight branches, including Branch of New Generation Information Technology and Industry, Branch of Biology and Life Science and Technology and Industry, Branch of High-end Equipment Technology and Industry, Branch of New Material Technology and Industry, Branch of Green Low Carbon Technology and Industry, Branch of Digital Creative Technology and Industry, Branch of Intelligent Manufacturing Technology and Industry, and Branch of Innovative Design for the Development of Emerging Industries, reported on their respective preparations. According to statistics, the proportion of foreign speakers in this conference will exceed two-thirds of the total number of speakers.
