On the afternoon of July 17th, Dong Yunhu, Chairman of Municipal Consultative Conference, visited Shanghai Petrochemical Carbon Fiber Production Base and discussed the innovation and development of the carbon fiber industry. Jin Xingming, Vice-Chairman of the Municipal Consultative Conference, and Bei Xiaoxi, Secretary-General of the Municipal Consultative Conference, were also present. Wu Haijun, Chairman of Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company, and Shi Wei, General Manager of the company, accompanied the team. The symposium was presided over by Xu Jianmin, Director of the Economic Committee of the Municipal Consultative Conference. Lu Ming, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, was also present and made a speech.
Mr. Dong pointed out that new material industry is an important basic, strategic and leading industry, which plays a special and significant role in shaping the brand of "Made in Shanghai" and building a powerful manufacturing country. It is important to grasp the position of the national advanced manufacturing industry leader, make great efforts to improve the ability of innovation, and cultivate new material industrial clusters. What's more, it is also necessary to achieve breakthroughs in the fields of advanced basic materials, key strategic materials and cutting-edge new materials, and constantly upgrade the overall level of the new material industry. State-owned enterprises are the main force in the development of new materials industry in Shanghai. It is wise to innovate the system and mechanism, further optimize the environment of scientific and technological innovation, and stimulate the motive force of state-owned enterprises to break through in the field of new materials. The construction of Shanghai Science Creation Center and the national strategy of integrated development of Yangtze River Delta provide significant opportunities and higher platforms for the new material industry. It is advisable to seize the opportunity and take advantage of the situation, actively promote the integration of new materials and other industries, provide new momentum for high-quality development and cultivate new growth points.
Mr. Lu expressed that positive achievements have been made in the construction of high temperature superconducting demonstration project and the industrialization of new ceramic and aluminum materials in this city. In the field of carbon fibers and composite materials, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, in conjunction with Jinshan District Government, has continued to promote the innovation of common carbon fibers technologies, the planning and construction of featured industrial parks and the docking of upstream and downstream industrial chains, so as to accelerate the development of the carbon fibers industry agglomeration. The Commission will continue to do a good job in carbon fiber industry planning, special policies, and project landing, and work with Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company and Jinshan District to build a leading domestic and internationally competitive carbon fiber industry cluster.
