On June 25th, with the theme of “A Win-Win Future with 5G+”, China Mobile launched 5G+ in Shanghai. Wu Qing, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Zhang Jianming, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and relevant leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and the State Internet Information Office attended the event.
Mr. Wu pointed out that at present, Shanghai is making every effort to build a 5G network construction pioneer zone, an innovative application demonstration zone and an industry chain cluster and to launch the brand of a “Double Gigabit Broadband City”. It has built more than 3,000 5G base stations and will complete 13,000 base stations by the end of the year, generally covering the key urban and suburban areas. By 2021, it will focus on 10 key vertical industry sectors, formulate 100 industry application benchmarks, and nurture 1,000 5G innovative application projects. The 5G manufacturing, software and information services, and application industries will all achieve the output target of RMB100 billion. The release of China Mobile's 5G+ strategic plan will promote the commercial application and ecological construction of 5G. It is hoped that China Mobile will actively participate in the construction of Shanghai as a “Double Gigabit Broadband City” and lead 5G to provide more abundant and high-quality information and communication products for all sectors of the society.
Yang Jie, Chairman of China Mobile, said that 5G is not the simple “4G+1G”. It will be more revolutionary and of higher value. It will provide infrastructures for deep integration of cross-domain, all-round and multi-level industries, and fully release the roles of digital applications in the amplification, superposition and multiplication of economic and social development. China Mobile will fully implement the “5G+” plan, accelerate the promotion of 5G development, assist in industrial upgrading and high-quality economic development, provide more exciting and better information services for the public, and contribute to building digital China as a network powerand a smart society.
