Shanghai Municipal Government signed the Framework Agreement of Strategic Cooperation with China Telecom in Shanghai

    On May 30th, Shanghai Municipal Government signed the Framework Agreement of Strategic Cooperation on speeding up the construction of 5G-led new-generation information infrastructure with China Telecom in Shanghai. Li Qiang, Secretary of municipal party committee, met with Ke Ruiwen, Chairman of China Telecom, and his team. Ying Yong, Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Shanghai, and Zhuge Yujie, Secretary-General of Municipal Committee, were present at the signing ceremony. Wu Qing, Vice Mayor, and Chen Zhongyue, Vice General Manager of China Telecom Group, signed the agreement on behalf of both sides. Tang Zhiping, Secretary-General of Municipal Government, Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Zhang Jianming, Vice Chairman, were also present.

 

Mr. Li said that at present the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches on his inspection of Shanghai is being thoroughly implemented throughout the city, and three new major tasks are being fully implemented. Shanghai is speeding up the layout of the new generation of information and communication technologies, striving to build a highland of new generation of information technology, and creating the brand of a "dual Gigabit broadband city". China Telecom has its own advantages in infrastructure, test framework and technical means, and the prospects for cooperation between the two parties are promising. The municipal government supports China Telecom to set up more frontier R&D and scenario application projects in Shanghai. The city will create a better environment, better conditions and provide better services for all kinds of enterprises in Shanghai.

      Mr. Ying thanked China Telecom for its strong support to economic and social development in Shanghai, especially for the information construction. He said that the new generation of information infrastructure is an important manifestation of city energy level and core competitiveness. Shanghai is strengthening the core competence of the new generation of information infrastructure and accelerating the construction of world-class information and communication hub. The municipal government will continue to optimize the business environment and support China Telecom to achieve greater development in Shanghai.

      Mr. Ke expressed that Shanghai is rich in various element resources, application scenarios and industrial advantages. China Telecom will further increase its investment in innovative R&D in Shanghai, devote all efforts to the construction of a new generation of information infrastructure, focus on smart families, network information security, and industrial Internet, and strive to make greater contributions to the development of the new generation of information technology in Shanghai.

 

      Ying Yong and Ke Ruiwen witnessed the signing of the agreement and jointly unveiled Tianyi Smart Family Technology Co., Ltd., China Telecom Network and Information Security Research Institute, China Telecom 5G + Industrial Internet Industry Base.

      According to the agreement, China Telecom will build more than 3,000 5G base stations in Shanghai this year and more than 10,000 5G base stations by the end of 2021.China Telecom will also accelerate the establishment of 5G-based innovation and R&D platform in Shanghai and assist the construction of Shanghai Science and Technology Creation Center; What's more, the enterprise will accelerate the landing of 5G application and help Shanghai to build the world's leading innovative source of 5G application; Based on 5G + optical network, a high-speed, intelligent and ubiquitous application ecosystem will be built, promoting intelligent applications in fine urban management and smart home, and helping Shanghai build a "dual Gigabit broadband city".
