On the morning of April 23rd, Shanghai 5G Innovation and Development Summit& China Unicom Global Industry Chain Partnership Conference was opened in Shanghai. Ying Yong, Mayor of Shanghai, Zhang Feng, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and Wang Xiaochu, Chairman of China Unicom Group, gave speeches. Relevant leaders were also present, including Wu Qing, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Tang Zhiping, Secretary-General of Municipal Government, Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary-General of Municipal Government, Chen Jiezhong, Director of Shanghai Communications Administration and Zhang Jianming, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization.
Mr. Ying pointed out in his speech that 5G is an important direction in the new generation of information and communication technology. The country attaches great importance to the development of 5G and calls for quickening the pace of 5G commercialization. Shanghai resolutely implements the central plan and actively explores the application of 5G in the fields of manufacturing, transportation, education and healthcare. Almost 500 5G base stations have been built, and the first 5G mobile phone conversation was made in Shanghai, which makes Shanghai the first 5G pilot city in China.
Mr. Ying also stressed that in order to promote the urban energy level and core competitiveness, it is important to cultivate new momentum with information technology and develop with new momentum. Shanghai will strengthen planning guidance, coordinate with key and supportive information infrastructure, and build itself into a world-class information infrastructure benchmark city. It is also important to grasp independent innovation, strive to conquer key core technologies and accelerate the construction of a safe and controllable information technology system. Shanghai will promote the application of 5G integration, form new demonstrations and highlights, and create an open industrial ecology. More new technologies, new products, new applications and new services are welcomed to Shanghai. Shanghai will continue to deepen the "one-network" operation to provide more high-quality and efficient government services for various market players.
According to the strategic plan of China Unicom, Shanghai will become the first 5G pilot city of China Unicom. it will provide a broader test scenario to promote 5G applications and industrial upgrading.
The conference lasts for three days, focusing on innovation and discussing a number of topics, including 5G applications, intelligent transportation, industrial internet, industrial cooperation and innovation, with the theme of "Seeing the Future with 5G" to build a 5G industrial ecosystem.
