The First Working Group Meeting for 2019 International Forum on Innovation and Emerging Industries Development(IEID) was held in Shanghai

      On April 20th, the first Working Group Meeting for 2019 International Forum on Innovation and Emerging Industries Development(IEID) was held at Shanghai Consulting & Academic Center for Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Zhou Ji, Honorary Chairman of the Presidium of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, were present. 

 Prof. Zhou pointed out that China is in the turning point of industrial development. Innovation is the only way to achieve the goal of high-end industrial development. At the meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held on April 19th, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that the promotion of high-quality development of manufacturing industry should be taken as an important basis for steady growth, and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries should be accelerated so as to strengthen and expand emerging industries. The development of emerging industries is the hope of enhancing manufacturing industry. The sustainability of China International Industry Fair, which has gone through 20 years, also focuses on the adjustment of industrial structure and the development of emerging industries. It is hope that great importance will be attached to this conference of IEID in 2019, so that the conference will be held at a higher level, with new ideas, more methods and more practical measures.

Mr. Wu stressed that the Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government attach great importance to the International Conference on Innovation and the Development of Emerging Industries. Innovation and emerging industries are of great significance to Shanghai and are in line with the goal of launching the "Made in Shanghai" brand and building the source of world-class emerging industries. It is important to build the conference into a brand with world influence and make it effective and influential. Shanghai will actively cooperate and invite industry leaders to attend the conference and promote it to become a high-end international conference of academic leadership, industry strategy, government support and market promotion.

      The meeting was presided over by Zhong Zhihua, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Leaders of Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Shanghai University, China Institute of Engineering Design and relevant units were present.
