On the morning of April 10th, a leadership seminar was held to promote high quality development of artificial intelligence. The seminar was jointly held by Organization Department of Municipal Committee, Shanghai Party Institute of CPC & Shanghai Administration Institute, CPC Shanghai Municipal Working Committee of Economy and Informatization, and Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization. Wu Qing, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, were present and made mobilization for the opening. Chen Mingbo, Deputy Secretary-General of Municipal Government, and Wu Jincheng, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, were also present.
Recent years, taking the opportunity of hosting the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Shanghai has exerted the platform effect and further integrated capabilities and innovative development. Shanghai has accelerated breakthroughs and promoted integrative development of artificial intelligence and real economy in different aspects like core technology, open application scenario, cultivating industrial clusters and gathering global innovation elements. According to relevant statistics, the cluster of AI enterprises in Shanghai has accelerated its growth, with more than 1,000 core enterprises, ranking first in the country. Leading enterprises of AI have gathered in Shanghai, including Microsoft, Amazon, BAT, and IFLYTEK; Licorne enterprises and local AI enterprises have developed well; A batch of new enterprises starts up rapidly. Shanghai has initially formed key innovation demonstration zones like Binjiang in Xuhui district and Zhang Jiang High Tech Park in Pudong new area. Districts like Yangpu, Changning, Minhang and Jinganplay formed a whole linkage.
At the same time, Shanghai gives full play to the application scenario resources, promote the innovation of artificial intelligence, and strive to build a new intelligent city of artificial intelligence. The atmosphere of AI innovation in Shanghai is becoming stronger. A number of basic R&D platforms have been launched, a number of industry innovation centers have been developed, and a number of major innovation projects have been continuously promoted. At the same time, the AI innovative ecology in Shanghai has been gradually improved. Several powerful policies have been issued to further strengthen the research of rules and systems, which has provided good environment for the integration and innovation of artificial intelligence.
For the next step, Shanghai will focus on the implementation of the national AI strategy, play a leading role in industrial layout, technology, application demonstration and ecological construction. Shanghai will emphasize the deep integration of AI and real economy, and promote the development of intelligent driving, intelligent robots, intelligent hardware, intelligent sensors, intelligent chips, and intelligent software. What's more, the city will implement a multi-level enterprise introduction and cultivation plan, introduce a number of leading enterprises from home and abroad, increase support for local enterprises, and cultivate a number of local excellent enterprises. In addition, Shanghai pays more attention to the construction of AI talent team, focuses on introducing a number of leading talents, increases the training of AI professionals and applied talents, and builds a multi-level talent system.
In 2019, Shanghai will continue to hold the World Artificial Intelligence Conference. The conference will follow the standards of international industry fairs, aim to promote the level of internationalization and specialization, explore intelligent application and market operation, build an international brand of artificial intelligence, and promote the coordinated and high-quality development of Shanghai artificial intelligence and economic society.
