On December 12th, Shanghai AI Application Scenario Initiative was officially released, which is the first national soliciting program for AI application scenarios.10 AI application scenarios, 19 site- specific requirements and 60 AI innovative products of Shanghai were launched. The initiative is aimed to solicit solutions from global AI enterprises, break the bottleneck between supply and demand, provide broad application scenarios for AI enterprises, promote the application of new technologies and products in Shanghai, and accelerate the transformation into real productivity and new momentum for development. Zhang Ying, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, was present and made a speech.
Ms. Zhang pointed out that as a strategic technology leading the future, AI is fully enabling all walks of life and promoting the overall rise of social productivity. In order to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's series of important speeches and the instructions of Secretary Li Qiang at the World Artificial Intelligence Congress, Shanghai will strengthen its planning based on the overall situation and build a new smart city in the era of Artificial Intelligence. What's more, the city will focus on three dimensions: high-quality economic development, ensuring and improving people's livelihood and meticulous urban management, which will make AI technology better enhance industrial competence and core competitiveness, meet people's needs for a better life and enhance social governance capacity.
The 10 major application scenarios released in Shanghai highlighted three features. From the perspective of site, the scenarios focused on the vertical application of AI in special area, such as schools, hospitals, factories and families, integrating all kinds of AI technologies and creating a holistic solution. From the industries, the scenarios embodied the innovative application of AI in specific industries, such as transportation, government, security and finance, promoting AI to make a significant driving effect on the industry. From the whole situation, through the centralized application of AI across industries, such as parks and communities, the scenarios reflected the full empowerment of AI to the region. At the meeting, 60 AI innovative products were released. Through the linkage of supply and demand, the rapid development of AI industry in Shanghai was promoted, and a number of intelligent robots, hardware, software and driving products were accelerated to land, forming a new economic growth point. By 2020, 6 demonstration zones of AI innovation and application and 60 AI deep application scenarios will be completed to create a national AI development highland.
Representatives of the demand side made statements, including Jinan District Government, Beixinjing Community, Shanghai Shixi High School and Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital. Representatives of innovative products also made speeches, including Yixue Education and Westwell Lab. Representatives from relevant units were present, including relevant divisions of the Commission and some enterprises.
