On November 24th, the curtain descended on the 2018 Pioneer Competition of Shanghai Smart City Construction. Lu Xiaochun, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Working Committee of Economy and Informatization, and Zhou Qi, Vice President of Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, were present. Shi Wenjun, Associate Counsel of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, made a welcome speech and expressed that the construction, management, operation and service of the city are gradually moving from digitalization, networking and intellectualization to generalization, integration and intellectualization. It is of great significance to carry out the selection of leading talents in the field of smart cities, which is conducive to the formation of the "head goose effect".
In the final, 20 candidates of "Leading Pioneers" made statements and defenses. The jury consisting of Shao Zhiqing, Professor from East China University of Science and Technology, and Zhu Zongyao, Deputy Director of Shanghai Government Office and Director of Shanghai Big Data Centergraded the 20 candidates in terms of leadership, driving force, innovation, growth and influence, which decided their ranking. The 10 winners of the Pioneer Award will be officially announced after the qualification examination by the Organizing Committee.
The participants of the competition arepersons in charge of information construction of various units of Shanghai, as well as the leaders in the construction of Shanghai smart city. A total of 149 applications were received this year, an increase of 26.27% over last year.Concerning educational background, more than 75% of candidates had bachelor degree or above, and 9 had doctorate degree. As to age, the majority of candidates were post-1970 generations, and the youngest candidate was born in 1992.
Some of the candidates had built "community cloud" platform based on edge computing technology. Some came from the first company in China to provide semiconductor standard cell library. Some came from the teamwhich won the first prize in China’s financial industry for two consecutive years in big data applications.
