On the afternoon of October 22nd, Chen Mingbo, Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and Wu Jincheng, Vice Chairman, visited the transition area in Wujing and AI Town in Maqiao for research. Zhu Zhisong, Secretary of Minhang District Committee, Ni Yaoming, District governor, and Wu Bin, Deputy district governor, were present.
Mr. Chen listened to the transformation of the old Wujing Industrial Zone and the report on Maqiao AI Town. He alsoengaged in afield visit. Mr. Chen expressed that the transformation of old Wujing Industrial Zone should be based on structural adjustment. It is important to establish city-district coordination mechanism, make joint planning, and set high standards for top-level design. At the same time, it is advisable to investigate the current situation and trend of AI development, so that AI projects can be effectively landed. The functional layout of AI Town should be optimized to promote collaborative development.
Mr. Zhu pointed out that it is important to make AI technology to play a positive role in promoting the AI Town in Maqiao. The construction of the town should integrate various functions and play a leading role in R&D, innovation, industrial development and scene application. In terms of infrastructure construction, land policy and industrial innovation, it is necessary to focus on hi-tech AI industry. According to the plan, it is a must to integrate science and technology into the construction of the Town and create a sample of a future city.
Mr. Ni expressed that Maqiao AI Town is one of the few large centralized development parks. In the early stage, a great deal of research was carried out on functional orientation. A research institute was established, and experts from the industry were invited to conduct joint research. In the future, as many AI manufacturing industries as possible, including AI research institutes, should be brought together to make it a sample of Shanghai’s industrial upgrading, transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and integration of industries and city, so as to make contributions to building an outstanding global city.
