1. Shanghai Fashion Week SS21 kicked off (10.9)
In order to boost the confidence of the consumer market, Shanghai successfully held the first May 5 Shopping Festival in the first half of this year, followed by four more themed events in the second half, including the Golden Autumn Shopping and Travel Season, the Embracing CIIE Season, the Online Shopping Carnival and the New Year Shopping Season. From October 8th to November 10th, Shanghai will kick off the Embracing CIIE Season, led by the first activity at Shanghai Xintiandi on the evening of October 8th, that is, LILY Fashion Release, the opening show of Shanghai Fashion Week SS21.
Focusing on the theme of "Sustainable Runway", Shanghai Fashion Week SS21 is committed to building a next-generation industry service platform. Starting from October 8th, nearly 100 new products of menswear, women swear, kids’ wear and formal dresses will be staged in Shanghai's fashion landmarks, including Shanghai Xintiandi, OneEast, Jing'an 800 Show and Swire Taikoo. Major fashion exhibitions, represented by MODE Shanghai will also be held simultaneously, attracting thousands of brands and buyers from all over the world to jointly open the showroom of the new season.
2. Wusong Riverside Belt Opened (10.14)
Recently, Wusong Riverside Belt was officially opened, covering more than 2,000 Mu of riverside landscape and greening, including Paotai Bay Wetland Park, Riverside Park and Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial Park.
In order to facilitate visitors, “Wusong Riverside - Four Seasons of Culture” bicycles were launched simultaneously, featuring the four elements of cultural seasons, namely "Sakurain Spring", "Cruising in Summer", "Artin Autumn" and "Reading in Winter".
3. Attracting more international R&D centers to pool in Shanghai, Gong Zheng presided over the executive meeting of Shanghai Municipal Government (10.21)
Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai Municipal Government, presided over the executive meeting of Shanghai Municipal Government on October 19th to study and promote the high-quality development of international R&D centers. He stressed the need to thoroughly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his visit to Shanghai, continuously strengthen "four major functions" in accordance with the plans of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and continuously build new heights to attract international investments.
The meeting pointed out that speeding up the establishment and development of foreign-funded R&D centers will help boost the confidence of international investors, accelerate the construction of Shanghai into a Science and Technology Innovation Center, and promote the higher quality development of Shanghai's economy. The policies and measures introduced shall ensure that they are effective and attract more international R&D centers to gather and develop in Shanghai. For new situations and problems in the implementation of policies, we should adhere to the principle of problem and demand orientation, continue to intensify policy innovation and make every effort to create a better business environment.
4. Shanghai’s shipbuilding industry has continuously delivered largest dual-fuel container vessels (10.28)
On October 27th, the world's second 23,000 TEU dual-fuel container vessel, the Dafei Champs Elysees, was delivered in Shanghai.
Longer than an aircraft carrier, this mega ship, was built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, and is owned by Dafei Group based in France. After Shanghai East China delivered the world's first-of-the-class ship in September, Shanghai's shipbuilding industry once again demonstrated its leadership in the field of dual-fuel container vessels.
5. Insurance Block Chain Innovation Center launched (10.30)
The 2nd Lujiazui International Reinsurance Conference was held on October 29th. Due to COVID-19, Shanghai Lujiazui Reinsurance Conference became the only annual conference of international reinsurance dealers held in the world this year. 288 organizations and more than 1,100 participants attended the conference both online and offline. 7 of Top 8 reinsurers, including Munich Re, Swiss Re, General Re, Hannover Re and Lloyd's, and all Top 3 as well as reinsurance brokers, namely Aon, Marsh (Guy Carpenter) and Welle's, attended the event.
