1.     Yangshan Port welcomed giant 24,000 TEU ships (5.7)

On the evening of May 6th, MSC Algeciras with a capacity of 24,000 TEUs berthed at Yangshan Port Phase V, breaking the historical record of the berthing of ultra-large container ships at the port. Since the beginning of this year, 11 large container ships of the same class that have been launched by the Mediterranean Shipping Company have docked at Yangshan Port 21 times, which proves that the collection and distribution system of the port is able to handle the huge container ships of this level.

 

2.     Shanghai and Alibaba jointly explore "Cloud Expo"; Li Qiang attended the "Cloud Release" of new cars in 2020 (5.9)

A new force has joined the online new economic development in Shanghai. Alibaba Group and Shanghai International Trade Promotion Committee recently established Yunshang Exhibition Co., Ltd., and launched the first exhibition of the "Cloud Release" of new cars in 2020 at Shanghai Exhibition Center, exploring the new model of online and offline integration of cloud-based exhibition, and actively helping the "May 5th Shopping Festival". Li Qiang, Secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, attended the "Cloud Release" event and met with Zhang Yong, Chairman and CEO of Alibaba Group, and his team members.

 

3.     "SME Online Capability Enhancement Workshop" was held (5.14)

On the afternoon of May 12th, in order to further implement the "Action Plan for Promoting the Development of the Online New Economy in Shanghai (2020-2022)" and facilitate the promotion of online marketing and branding of SMEs, Shanghai Promotion Office for the Development Coordination of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Shanghai Development Service Center of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises held the "SME Online Capability Enhancement Workshop" and invited Douyin, Pinduoduo, Aukucun, Amazon Global Store and other platforms as well as 9 manufacturers, including Solidware, MinLongDa, Jala Group and China Crafts, to enhance the capabilities of SMEs, in particular the abilities of "specialized, featured and innovative" enterprises to use new online media and channels to expand the market and drive the new online economy.

 

4.     Press the fast-forward button of new material industry: Shanghai CPPCC held a workshop with new material enterprises (5.15)

On May 14th, Shanghai CPPCC held a workshop with new material enterprises. Dong Yunhu, Chairman of Shanghai CPPCC, attended the event and delivered a speech.

At the meeting, representatives of enterprises from of high temperature superconductivity, carbon fiber, minimally invasive medical treatment, composite materials and other fields made detailed presentations on the response to COVID-19, the comprehensive resumption of production and the difficulties faced. The leaders of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization attended the meeting, listened to their opinions and suggestions and had in-depth exchanges and interaction with enterprise representatives centered on promoting the effective implementation of relevant policies, deepening the integration of industrial chains in practice, optimizing the industrial layout, increasing end-user demand, strengthening financial support and reinforcing the introduction of talents.

 

5.     “Made in Shanghai” summited Everest (5.28)

On the morning of May 27th, China Measurement Mountaineering Team carried Beidou high-precision positioning equipment manufactured by China Survey Navigation to the summit of Mount Everest. This is the first time that China used home-made Beidou high-precision positioning equipment for the height measurement of Everest. After rigorous testing and several rounds of verification, China Survey Navigation's equipment eventually became the only domestic GNSS product that reached the summit of Mount Everest. It is proven that “Made in China” surveying equipment has made major breakthroughs in undertaking important national tasks. The days of Chinese surveyors who could only rely on imported equipment to measure the height of Mount Everest will be gone forever.
