On the afternoon of January 17th, SAIC commissioned China Shipbuilding Corporation, the world's largest shipbuilding group, to build the first ocean-going automobile carrier, which was officially named "SAIC Anji Shencheng" and successfully opened its maiden voyage ceremony. Wu Jincheng, Deputy Secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal Government, Deputy Secretary of CPC Pudong New Area Committee and Acting District Head of Pudong New Area, Ma Xiaohong, Deputy Director of Propaganda Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Liu Ping, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Chen Hong, Chairman of SAIC, Wang Xiaoqiu, President of SAIC, and Sheng Jigang, Deputy General Manager of China Shipbuilding Corporation, attended the ceremony to untie the sailor knot and open the semaphore together, which started the loading of domestic cars on board.
"SAIC Anji Shencheng" is a clean energy ro-ro ship with the largest loading capacity and the highest degree of localization in active service in the world. It was developed and designed by Shanghai Shipbuilding Research and Design Institute under China Shipbuilding Corporation and built by Jiangnan Shipbuilding, with completely independent intellectual property rights. It will carry more than 5,000 export vehicles for the maiden voyage to Europe, and truly realize the "national ship, national car and national transportation" of ocean transportation in China's automobile industry for the first time, which will effectively guarantee the rapid delivery and expansion of SAIC's overseas markets. It has a length of 199.9 meters, a width of 38 meters, 14 decks, a depth of 39.68 meters, a design draft of 9.2 meters, 7,600 parking spaces and a displacement of over 40,000 tons. The streamline design of long straight ramp is adopted, which improves the loading and unloading efficiency by more than 20%, and the intelligent ship integration platform is equipped, which improves the energy efficiency of the whole ship by 10%. Innovative use of LNG dual-fuel clean power reduces carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 30%, and is a new generation of energy-saving, environment-friendly and efficient automobile carrier.
