As the Star Exhibit of the Center for Exhibition and Transformation of Academician and Expert Achievements of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the smart train system developed by Academician Zhong Zhihua's team appeared in the Academician and Expert Innovation Achievement Exhibition of the 22nd China International Industry Fair, settled in the Academician Innovation Achievement Exhibition Hall of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and was included in the first batch of proposals expected for achievement commercialization under the unanimous recommendation of the Academician Achievement Commercialization Service Team.

On June 16th, the pilot line of the smart train system was officially kicked off at Jiading New Town, Shanghai, which is about 8.2 kilometers long and has 22 intersections. Although it takes more than 20 minutes in normal traffic environment, the smart train spent less than 9 minutes to run the whole course at a speed of 60 km/h.

A major feature of smart train system is the conversion between trains and sets. The trains are connected by hardware, while the sets are connected by software. The smart train system creates train sets depending on the number of passengers traveling, and the traffic volume can be flexibly adjusted.

Point-to-point travel is another major feature of smart train system. A passenger may book his itinerary through APP or mobile terminal, and the central control system based on cloud and big data matches passengers departing and arriving at the same station to take the same train, so as to realize point-to-point travel and ensure that everyone has a seat.
