Microsoft's largest AI and IoT lab in the world landed at Zhangjiang

Yesterday, Pudong New Area signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with Microsoft (China) Co., Ltd..According to the memorandum, Microsoft's largest AI and IoT lab will be built at Zhangjiang Science City to foster Shanghai’s development as ascience and technology innovation center. 

Pudong is the core base of ​​Shanghai’sscience and technology innovation center. In recent years, it has been striving to create a premium innovation ecosystem. With the construction of Zhangjiang Science City, a number of large scientific facilities have been built and emerging industries have developed rapidly, especially in the field of artificial intelligence, with strong demand and promising prospects. In recent years, Microsoft has grown rapidly in the fields of artificial intelligence and cloud computing, which has already paved the way for its partnership with Pudong.

This strategic cooperation is a powerful measure for deepening the alliance between Pudong New Area and Microsoft Corporation in the face of AI technology. The cooperation will make full use of Zhangjiang's strong research resources, innovative fundamentals and comprehensive support, and take advantage of Microsoft's brand, service, technology and industry chain. Supported byMicrosoft AI and IoT Lab, it will drive the in-depth integration of AI, IoT and digital transformation. Through the continuous development in the fields of transformation and upgrading of traditional industries to intelligent manufacturing, talent cultivation and business model innovation, it will build up an innovation ecosystem of industries, enterprises and talents. 

Microsoft AI and IoT Labs are Microsoft's global R&D facilities to facilitate AI and IoT solutions to help companies develop their IoT products and drive AI processes in the fields of manufacturing, retail, healthcare, finance and public affairs. The lab at Zhangjiang is the first in Microsoft Asia Pacific and the third in the world. It is also Microsofts largest AI and IoT lab to date. After completion, it can provide creative incubation, design and development,tests and experiments, prototyping, technical supports, market cooperation and operation guidance for qualified companies. The lab will be located at the AIIsland of Zhangjiang Science City with a total area of ​​2,800 square meters. It is scheduled to officially start operation this April.

In recent years, the AI industry at Pudong has achieved rapid growth. It has gathered hundreds of AI-related enterprises and institutions as well as a number of unicorns such as Qiniu. It has essentially formed the entire ecosystem ranging from underlying database and core algorithmtechnology to industry-wide empowering applications.
